SICPAGUARD HDSense 2017-2019

BRIEF 

Sicpa requested the collaboration of Studio Volpi to design and develop an audit device, specifically a handheld detector for security marks with material-based authentication capabilities, to be used for security audits comprising product authentication. 

CHALLENGE 

The main challenge of this project was combining two modes of use in a single product, maintaining a family feeling with another existing product from Sicpa that was very different in terms of shape and size.

SOLUTION 

Our design team developed a small, ergonomic and versatile object: the front stand is completely integrated in the design of the product, and it does not interfere with the manual use. In case of necessity, the support can be unfolded allowing the product to be standing on a surface by itself. 

The feedback system is based on led lighting, and it became a distinctive element in the design of the product. 

Studio Volpi was in charge of developing both the design and the engineering of the object, and the development was carried on working side by side with Sicpa team, who brought the optical authentication block and the electronic components.
