Background

The BOV860 Air fry oven combines Element IQ™ which intelligently creates precise and stable heat between 5 elements with comprehensive smart pre-set functions, including Air-Fry, making it the most versatile of kitchen tools.

The challenge for this product was to create the right combination of powerful controlled airflow, increased temperature and distributing the circulating air evenly around the entire cavity to give the optimum ‘air fryed’ cooking result. All this without disrupting the performance of any of the ovens existing cooking functions.

Dedicated air fryers often have much smaller cooking cavity sizes which makes distributing the air and heat easier, and also limits smaller portions to be cooked. The BOV860 Air fry oven can cook a greater amount of food at any one time than an air fryer, enough for a family in only one go.

Visual Design

In addition to the cooking performance the external visual design of the product also required a complete redesign to meet the evolving design language at Breville.

The updated Breville design language is clad in stainless steel with simpler and softer shapes, combined with chrome trim, making the body a canvass to showcase products best in both Stainless Steel and in colour variations.

Polished highlights and premium details are elevated to show elements of crafted design: Handles and touchpoints are hand finished in die-cast, investment-cast and sophisticated formed stainless, creating a solid engineered aesthetic.

Functionality

The specially developed high-power motor, impeller and air manifold combine to give users the ability to produce results like a dedicated air fryer built right within a counter top oven. The final design has three separate settings for fan control to accommodate the needs of different food items.

11 smart pre-sets are at hand for simple and convenient cooking: Toast, Bagel, Bake, Roast, Air Fry, Broil, Pizza, Cookies, Reheat, Warm, Slow Cook.

Having functions like air fry and slow cook built in reduces the need for another dedicated appliance on the countertop or one to be stored away while not in use. 

Summary

This product improves upon the already enormously successful workhorse central to Breville’s counter top oven range. The addition of a new cooking style and the benefits to existing menu items from a more powerful fan system takes an already successful oven platform and make it even more versatile. This product is a true evolution in the counter top oven range keeping Breville as a leader in this product category.
