Mira Push Button Mixer Range | 2018-2020

Designers: Kohler Mira Design Team, Kohler Mira Ltd., Cheltenham, United Kingdom
Manufacturer: Kohler Mira Ltd., Cheltenham, United Kingdom

The Push Button Mixer Range was developed by Mira to create a compelling shower experience.

The shower system utilises a platform-style approach with a clear focus on intuitive user interactions and a harmonious design language unifying the mixer with the contemporary geometric detailing of handset and overhead.

The user has direct control of all modes using push buttons on the mixer and hand shower, while the contrasting sprays on the two-mode deluge shower are selected using a tactile lever.
The range introduces Hydroglo lighting to the bathroom, this battery-less technology elegantly informs the user when the shower is hot enough to enjoy.

The focus was on creating a gracious experience for the two main stakeholders, the user has been given direct control of their shower through intuitive interactions using the buttons with the experience enhanced further by haptic feedback.

For the installer, the range was made quick and easy to install, enabled by a platform style assembly solution.

A deliberately subtle departure from the overtly geometric forms typically found on shower mixers has led to a more tactile and human aesthetic.

The finely honed balance between crisp, geometric lines and gentle convex surfacing defines a new design language for Mira which extends across all elements in the range.

Intuitive interaction is enhanced by the inclusion of the Hydroglo lighting which informs the user when the water is hot enough to start showering, removing a basic pain point at the start of every shower.

The multi-mode hand shower and two mode deluge shower deliver optimized sprays which are easily accessed through tactile controls.

This is a completely new range for Mira that offers built-in, exposed and minimal options that enable the consumer to select a Mira product based on their installation needs while still having strong visual, interaction and material links throughout the range.

Bold graphical elements not only create strong interaction points for the consumer but also visually tie the range together which further reinforces the Mira design language.

The platform nature of the Push Button Mixer range helps reduce the environmental impact of manufacturing, with componentry shared across SKU’s reducing the overall environmental burden typically created when a large range of products is produced.

Significantly, the Hydroglo lighting is more sustainable than alternative powered solutions and can also help to reduce water usage.
