The dual robot singulation and induction solution from FORTNA uses two six-axis robotic arms, working in tandem, to convert bulk flow into a single-file stream of product for automated sortation downstream. The autonomous solution’s variety of end effectors accommodates a diverse range of product sizes and packaging.
Powered by proprietary AI vision and sensing technology with speed modulation based on material types, the solution can singulate up to 2800 parcels per hour, while built-in rejection pathways address out-of-spec packages as well as debris or broken packages. The solution has automatic error detection and auto-recovery from faults, which works to avoid manual intervention.
Integrated placement verification ensures only singulated sortable items are inducted, minimizing the potential for mis-sorts and improving overall sorter utilization. The solution’s modular design allows for simple scalability, so it can grow alongside your business and its small footprint allows it to be retrofit into existing induction stations.
The solution can also be integrated seamlessly as part of facilities’ larger automated systems, working with scan tunnels and FORTNA’s Helix warehouse execution system (WES) for remote monitoring and control. The solution offers 12 different combinations of layouts for brownfield as well as greenfield sites based on available space.
