Designers: Andrea Quaglio and Manuela Simonelli, Studio Quaglio Simonelli,
Paris, France
Manufacturer: Docol Indústria e Comércio Ltda., Joinville, Santa Catarina, Brazil

Quaglio Simonelli is an award-winning Paris-based design studio renowned for the poetic and surprising details it incorporates into its projects.
Invited by Docol to design a mixer, they imagined that the use of contrasting materials, shapes, and volumes superimposed in balance would result in an unusual product, with a magical visual effect. It is not by chance that the product was named after nymphs from Greek mythology who inhabited lakes, fountains, and rivers and had the power to control the waters: the naiads.

Conceived as an architectural volume in an asymmetrical balance, the single lever mixer brings together two elements of simple shapes that create a fluid composition: the light metal spout placed on a robust cylinder suggests a dynamic balance, in the imminence of movement, a perception reinforced using two different materials. The single lever base is produced with the exclusive Neoclast®, a high-performance material composed of resin and mineral aggregates, which has a non-porous and smooth surface.

This material is solid, resistant, easy to clean, and has a smooth, natural finish, in three color options: chalk, sand, and basalt. The metal spout and lever have a brushed DocolChroma® stainless, graphite, or copper finish. “Naiade is designed by a combination of radical volumes superimposed that suggest an architecture. The spout and the on/off knob are linked together in a single folded line, which seems to rest in balance on a pure cylindrical volume. The heat of the water can be adjusted with a lever at the back.” - Andrea Quaglio and Manuela Simonelli.
