Lovepop Kiosk at Prudential Center 2018
Lovepop Kiosk at Prudential Center 2018

Designers: Stack + Co., Boston, Massachusetts, USA
Client: Lovepop, Boston, Massachusetts, USA

Lovepop is an innovative company that has disrupted the greeting card industry with their unique and intricate 3D printed greeting cards. They came to Stack + Co. to design and build a permanent retail kiosk in the Boston Prudential Center that would display their products in a way that reflected the finely crafted nature of their sculptured designs.

LovePop’s mission was to create a one-of-a-kind retail kiosk for their Prudential Center location in Boston that would serve as a “museum for the cards” and attract customers at the very busy Prudential pedestrian concourse. They sought a design which would be forward looking, unique, and different than their typical display which featured cards on top of a branded stand.

Stack + Co.’s design for the new kiosk is a 360-degree structure made out of solid white color core laminate that features Over 50 various sized portals which display and feature LovePop cards. By extending the display openings below the company standard of 36” the design greatly expands the kiosk’s display and product surface area while reimagining the typical retail kiosk into an interactive structure. Small round openings intrigue shoppers in the Prudential Center mall to grab their curiosity. As people are milling around the concourse, they approach a large, white, unadorned structure with small illuminated round apertures that create a feeling of curiosity and interest. Once close enough to see inside the portals, shoppers are enticed by the quality and beauty of the distinctive cards. The one simple graphic of the engraved LovePop sign and tiered shelving along with the display portals ensure that the colorful and vibrant cards standout as opposed to being lost amidst corporate branding.

LovePop’s original goal for the Prudential Center location was to sell 200 cards a day; in its first day in business the kiosk sold more than 400 cards and six months later, continues averaging 300 cards a day; far exceeding the company’s goal for the location. The company has implemented the Prudential Center design in stores in New York City and has hired Stack + Co. to design their newest location in the World Trade Center’s Oculus.
